Within the Chair, research on musculoskeletal pain is encouraged. In recent years, members of the Chair have carried out intense research into the biopsychosocial and contextual factors involved in chronic pain.
For example, articles on Fear of movement or Kinesiophobia, as well as Self-efficacy and chronic pain, are the most cited worldwide in their field of knowledge.
In addition, different doctoral theses are carried out, such as the following:

Visiting researchers
In recent years, the group has received different researchers interested in learning more about our lines of research:
Dayana Patricia Rosa
Brazilian researcher Dayana Patricia Rosa completed a postdoctoral stay during the whole year 2023 through the Maria Zambrano talent attraction program. Dayana is an expert in chronic pain and cultural and ethnic aspects. During her stay, Dayana actively participated in different tasks, highlighting her teaching in the Degree in Physiotherapy, teaching in the Master of Health Research, lecturing in the summer course on Chronic Pain and involvement in all the activities that the Chair developed in 2023.
Silvia Solé
Silvia Solé, Professor of Physiotherapy at the University of Lleida, made a teaching and research stay in our group between January and June 2023. As a result of this stay, she won the prize for best poster at the IX International Congress of Mindfulness 2023 in Zaragoza with a paper on Mindfulness and chronic pain.
Paula Camargo
Dr. Paula Camargo is a world leading researcher in the field of shoulder pain, with a number of papers published in leading international journals. We were fortunate to have her visiting us in June 2023.
Thainá Padovani Dos Santos
Thainá Padovani Dos Santos is a student of the Physiotherapy Degree at UFSCAR University in Brazil. Through a research funding program she came to our Chair from May to August 2024 to develop a series of infographics on understanding pain and its management, adapted to the Spanish population.
Giovanna Ramos Mansao
Giovanna Ramos Mansao is a student of the Physiotherapy Degree at UFSCAR University in Brazil. Through a research funding program she came to our Chair from July to September 2024 to develop a series of infographics on understanding pain in dysmenorrhea and its management, adapted to the Spanish population.
Awards
The Chair promotes research by awarding annual prizes for the best Bachelor's and Master's Degree Final Project carried out by students of the University of Malaga.
