The Chair of Technological and Social Innovation in Health and Pain of the UMA celebrates its first year of work
Recognizes the best Bachelor and Master's Degree Final Projects, in a ceremony held at the Ateneo
The University Chair of Technological and Social Innovation in Health and Pain of the University of Malaga, coinciding with the celebration of its first anniversary, has awarded the research prizes for the best Final Degree Project (TFG) and Final Master's Project (TFM) of 2023.
The winners were the students of the Faculty of Health Sciences Vicente Gilés Resnik, graduate in Physiotherapy, for his work 'Influencia de los Factores Contextuales en las emociones y cogniciones asociadas al dolor lumbar crónico', and Sandra Sánchez Morilla, student of the Master's Degree in New Trends in Health Sciences Research, for her project 'Laxitud ligamentosa y el espectro ansioso-afectivo de la mujer diagnosticada con artritis reumatoide: un estudio de cohortes'.
The award ceremony took place last week at the Ateneo de Málaga, within the framework of the I Foro Salud y Dolor. During the celebration, firstly, the director of the Chair, Professor of the Department of Physiotherapy Alejandro Luque presented the actions carried out and results obtained in the health program carried out in the city of Malaga in the presentation 'A year of Chair: 'A healthy Malaga in pain'.
In this regard, Luque pointed out that actions have been carried out in municipal districts, sports entities, neighborhood associations and school environments.
"Concepts such as pain education, active listening to the impressions of the people of Malaga on how they face and manage various ailments, as well as research on health and pain literacy, were some of the topics addressed this year 2023. These results will mark the work plan to be developed in 2024," he pointed out.
Afterwards, Jordi Miró, Professor of Psychology at the Universitat Rovira i Virgili, gave a lecture on childhood pain, highlighting the high prevalence of this condition and the need to visualize this phenomenon.
Alfonso Sanchez, former professional basketball player; Mario Barbara, physiotherapist UNICAJA Basketball, and the deputy director of the Chair, Professor of Physiotherapy and Doctor of Psychology Concepción Pineda were the protagonists of a dialogue on pain and health, in which they discussed the pain in elite sport and marked the need to make more visible this situation "so common in this environment".
