II Conference of the Chair of Health and Pain of the University of Malaga held

The Chair of Health and Pain of the University of Malaga, promoted together with the Unicaja Foundation, held its second conference on July 4 at the facilities of the Rectorate of the University of Malaga, where a summary of all the initiatives developed in the last year, both in the city and in the province, was presented.
The meeting was chaired by the Rector's Delegate for Health Relations, Natalia García, and was also attended by the director of the Chair, Professor of Physiotherapy Alejandro Luque, and the head of Solidarity and Research at the Unicaja Foundation, Ana Cabrera. It has also brought together at the UMA personalities from the world of medicine, research, health, sport and Malaga society in general.
Luque emphasized that the actions undertaken by the Chair this year have revolved around three main lines: 'School Health and Child Pain', 'Sport and Pain' and 'Pain in the Elderly'.

In this regard, some of the activities carried out have been reviewed, such as face-to-face educational training actions, which have brought together a total of 400 people from different population groups (teachers, coaches, athletes...). The generation of online resources and informative tasks related to science and pain, for example, podcasts, are other projects that have been promoted by the Chair.
During the celebration of the second conference at the Rector's Office, the prize for the best Master's Thesis was also awarded to Atenea Villalobos García, for her work 'Effect of kinesiophobia and catastrophism on upper limb function after wrist and hand injury: a cross-sectional study'.

The Chair of Health and Pain was created in 2023 with the main purpose of transferring knowledge on healthy habits and musculoskeletal pain to the whole of Malaga society, as well as promoting research and dissemination in these fields. Since 2024 it is owned by both the University of Malaga and the Unicaja Foundation.
The following year will continue to be supported by Fundación Unicaja and will place special emphasis on three lines: meetings with older adults in rural areas of the province of Malaga, school health and children's pain, and the generation of online educational resources.
