Now available! The second episode of “Salud en Claro,” the podcast from the Chair of Health and Pain. Episode 2: Pain in Sports.
In this second episode of Salud en Claro, we tackle one of the most common issues in sports: pain and its management in high-performance settings.
On this occasion, Ignacio Maldonado speaks with Alejandro Luque, Professor of Physical Therapy at the University of Málaga and director of the UMA Chair in Health and Pain, and with Mario Bárbara, physical therapist for the Unicaja Basketball first team, researcher, and doctoral candidate in Health Sciences at the University of Málaga.
Throughout the discussion, we explore how the approach to pain in elite sports has evolved, where we currently stand, the actual role that injuries play in an athlete’s experience of pain, and how factors such as context, competitive pressure, and the beliefs surrounding professional sports influence this experience—among other interesting topics that today’s guests will discuss.
