Now available! The third episode of “Salud en Claro,” the podcast from the Chair of Health and Pain. “Episode 3: Pain in Women”
Should we approach health and pain differently in women? In this episode of "Salud en Claro," Lirios Dueñas speaks with Ana Gil, a physical therapist with a degree in Physical Activity and Sports Sciences and a doctoral candidate at the University of Vigo, and Rocío Di Nucci, a physical therapist from the University of Málaga, with a degree in Physical Activity and Sports Sciences (CAFYD) from UNLaM in Argentina, and a collaborator with the Spanish Association Against Cancer, supporting and treating cancer patients. Throughout the discussion, we reflect on whether women’s health should be approached exclusively through the lens of biological differences from men, pushing aside such relevant factors as social context, education, life experiences, environment, or the roles they play. In addition, we discussed the biases that still exist in the healthcare field, the importance of individualizing treatments, and the need to focus on the person and not solely on the diagnosis or the tissue. An intimate and informative conversation about health, pain, and women from a more human, broad, and contemporary perspective.
