Pain and Sport
The world of physical activity and sports are associated with health-generating environments. In the case of the former, the benefits at the musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, respiratory and mental levels, among others, are unquestionable. However, people who periodically use physical activity may find fear of movement a barrier, as well as not finding the relief sought with the practice of regular exercise. In this case, actions based on the re-conceptualization of pain may be key.
On the other hand, in the world of sport, whether popular-medium level or high level-elite, it is necessary to understand the dichotomy "pain and sport is not equal to sports injury". Under this new precept, it is essential to work with athletes, coaches and sports managers on these concepts. Furthermore, studies on the prevalence of chronic pain in sport are very scarce, so it is necessary to obtain data that make this situation visible in order to be able to generate health programs in this environment.
The Chair carries out actions in sports environments with citizens who perform different physical activities as well as designs educational actions in sports clubs and in collaboration with the organization of sporting events in the city of Malaga.
